Tea, scones, Mum and the Honourable Miss Phryne Fisher …

Over the mother’s day weekend dear sister and I decided to treat our mum to a bit of a girls day out at the beautiful Ripponlea estate to take in the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries costume exhibition and oh what a treat it was.

We’re all avid Miss Fisher fans so it was a delight to see what new offerings series three would present. Without doubt the costumes coupled with the opulence of the venue really make it a match made in Art Deco heaven and I always feel as though I am stepping back in time each time I visit.

Like the previous Miss Fisher costume exhibition that Ripponlea hosted a year or so ago visitors are again encouraged to play dress ups as you tour the house, as well as solve a little murder mystery with an interactive Inspector Robinson offering clues along the way. All in all a hoot of an experience.

To cap off an enjoyable day we retreated to the stable cafe on the estate which has been converted into a replica of Phryne’s sitting room to enjoy a spot of Devonshire tea and yummy scones. And I must say it just doesn’t get any better than that … a perfectly lovely day indeed!
